Armin's grandfather; Wilhelm's father
Jakob Gerechter
Borek, Posen, about 1821 – Berlin, 15 March 1900
aged about 79
Jakob Gerechter was born around 1821 in Borek, a small town in the province of Posen, the son of Salomon and Rosa Gerechter. He married Friederike Tuch of Koschmin, and they raised their children in Borek.
They had at least six children: Adolph, Jenny, Jette, Wilhelm, Elias and Rosette. Several of them left Borek for Berlin, where they went into the clothing trade.
Jakob died in Berlin on 15 March 1900, in his late seventies, four months after his grandson Armin was born.
Before 1933
In 1880 he was named as the father of the bride when his daughter Jenny married Meyer Tuch in Borek. In his last years in Berlin he seems to have lived in the household of one of his children.
What we don't know
We do not know when Jakob came to Berlin, whose home he lived in there, or where he is buried. His wife Friederike died in Borek in 1897.
